Possible Causes

Failed evaporator fan motor, Obstructed fan blades, Damaged fan wiring, Faulty fan driver on main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the wine cooler from power before accessing the fan. Keep fingers clear of fan blades.

Steps to diagnose and fix E6 fan issues:

  • 1. Listen for fan operation: With the door closed and unit running (before unplugging), listen for the evaporator fan inside the cabinet. Lack of airflow or unusual noise suggests a fan problem.
  • 2. Access the fan: Remove interior shelves and the rear inner panel to expose the evaporator and fan assembly.
  • 3. Check for obstructions: Inspect the fan blades for ice buildup, labels, or wiring contacting the blades. Clear any obstructions and ensure the fan spins freely by hand.
  • 4. Electrical test: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the fan connector. Measure resistance across the fan motor terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed motor.
  • 5. Verify supply voltage: Reconnect power carefully and, with proper precautions, measure the voltage at the fan connector when the fan should be running (door switch closed). If correct voltage is present but the fan does not run, replace the fan motor.
  • 6. Replace the fan motor: Remove mounting screws, swap in a new Brandt-compatible evaporator fan motor, and reconnect the wiring. Ensure the fan is oriented correctly for proper airflow.
  • 7. Control board check: If no voltage is supplied to a known-good fan, the main control board's fan driver may be defective and require replacement.
