Possible Causes
Failed magnetic door reed switch, Misaligned door magnet, Broken door switch wiring, Faulty input circuit on main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before removing trims or panels around the door frame.
Steps to resolve E7 door sensor issues:
- 1. Check door closure: Ensure the door closes fully and the gasket is not obstructing the latch area. A partially open door can mimic a sensor fault.
- 2. Locate the door sensor: On many Brandt wine coolers, a magnetic reed switch is hidden in the cabinet frame, with a corresponding magnet in the door.
- 3. Magnet alignment: Verify that the door magnet is present and aligned with the sensor location. If the magnet has shifted or fallen out, refit or replace it.
- 4. Test the reed switch: Remove the inner trim near the sensor area and access the switch. Disconnect it and test continuity with a multimeter while placing a magnet near the switch. The reading should change from open to closed. If not, the switch is faulty.
- 5. Inspect wiring: Check the harness from the door switch to the main PCB for breaks or loose connectors. Repair any damaged sections.
- 6. Replace faulty components: Install a new Brandt-compatible door reed switch or magnet as needed. Secure it firmly so it does not move with door use.
- 7. Reassemble and test: Restore trims, plug in the cooler, and open/close the door to confirm that the interior light and display respond correctly and that E7 clears.
