Possible Causes
Defective door reed switch, Missing or misaligned door magnet, Shorted switch wiring, Faulty control board input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before adjusting or replacing the door switch.
Steps to fix a light that stays on:
- 1. Confirm symptom: Look through the door gasket gap in a dark room to see if the light remains on when the door is closed.
- 2. Check door alignment: Ensure the door is not sagging and closes squarely against the cabinet. Adjust hinges if necessary.
- 3. Inspect magnet and switch: Locate the door magnet and reed switch. Realign or replace the magnet if it has shifted. Test the reed switch with a multimeter as described for E7.
- 4. Replace faulty switch: Install a new Brandt door reed switch if it does not open/close correctly with the magnet.
- 5. Control board: If the switch and magnet are good but the light remains on, the main control board may be misreading the door status and require replacement.
