Possible Causes
Clogged defrost drain hole, Disconnected drain tube, Excessive door opening causing condensation, Cracked drain pan
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before working inside the cabinet. Use towels to manage water.
Steps to fix water leaks:
- 1. Identify source: Check if water is inside the cabinet, under the unit, or at the front edge. This helps locate the leak path.
- 2. Clear drain hole: Inside the cabinet, locate the small drain hole at the rear (below the evaporator cover). Use a soft pipe cleaner or plastic probe to clear any blockage. Do not use metal objects that can damage the hole.
- 3. Check drain tube: From the rear, remove the lower panel and locate the drain tube leading to the evaporator pan. Ensure it is connected and not kinked or blocked.
- 4. Inspect drain pan: Verify that the pan above the compressor is not cracked or overflowing. Clean it if dirty.
- 5. Reduce condensation: Avoid frequent or prolonged door openings, especially in humid environments, as this increases water load.
