Possible Causes

Failed condenser fan motor, fan blade obstructed by debris, dirty condenser coil causing overload, loose fan wiring connector

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit before removing the rear access panel. The condenser fan is near line-voltage wiring and hot components.

E9 typically indicates a problem with the condenser fan, which cools the compressor and condenser coil.

  • Step 1 – Access rear compartment: Move the wine cooler away from the wall and remove the lower rear panel to expose the condenser fan and coil.
  • Step 2 – Inspect fan and coil: Check for dust buildup on the condenser coil and debris around the fan blade. Clean the coil with a soft brush and vacuum. Remove any obstructions from the fan.
  • Step 3 – Check fan operation: Spin the fan blade by hand; it should rotate freely without grinding. If it is stiff or seized, the motor is likely bad.
  • Step 4 – Inspect wiring: Verify that the fan motor connector is fully seated and that wires are not cut or pinched.
  • Step 5 – Test fan motor: With power disconnected, measure resistance across the motor leads. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. If you are experienced, you can bench-test the motor with the correct voltage.
  • Step 6 – Replace condenser fan motor: Remove the mounting screws, transfer the blade to the new Café-compatible condenser fan motor, and reinstall. Ensure the blade is not rubbing on the shroud.

After reassembly, restore power and confirm that the fan runs whenever the compressor is on and that E9 clears.
