Display shows Hi instead of a temperature; interior may be warm or sensor may be open.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing any interior panels or accessing wiring.
Hi indicates the control is reading a temperature above the sensor's normal range, usually due to an open sensor circuit.
- Step 1 – Confirm actual temperature: Use a separate thermometer to check the cabinet temperature. If it is normal but the display shows Hi, the sensor circuit is likely open.
- Step 2 – Inspect sensor and harness: Locate the cabinet thermistor and check for a broken probe or disconnected wires. Follow the harness to the control board and ensure connectors are fully seated.
- Step 3 – Test thermistor continuity: With the sensor disconnected, measure resistance across its leads. An infinite reading (open circuit) indicates a failed sensor.
- Step 4 – Repair or replace: Replace the thermistor with a Café-compatible part if it is open or damaged. Repair any broken wires or connectors in the harness.
- Step 5 – Check control board input: If a new sensor does not resolve the Hi reading, the main control board sensor input may be defective and require replacement.
After repair, allow the unit to run for at least 30 minutes and verify that the displayed temperature matches the actual temperature.
