Possible Causes
Faulty temperature sensor reading too warm, door gasket leak, dirty condenser coil, low refrigerant causing long run times, control board relay stuck closed
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before cleaning coils or accessing sensors and boards.
- Step 1 – Verify actual temperature: Use an independent thermometer to confirm the cabinet temperature. If it is at or below setpoint but the unit keeps running, suspect a sensor or control issue.
- Step 2 – Inspect gasket and door use: Ensure the door seals well and is not opened excessively.
- Step 3 – Clean condenser coil: Remove dust and debris from the condenser coil to improve efficiency.
- Step 4 – Test cabinet thermistor: Measure resistance and compare to Café specs. Replace if it reads too warm for the actual temperature.
- Step 5 – Check control board relay: If the sensor is good, the compressor relay on the main control board may be stuck. Replace the board if the compressor remains energized when it should be off.
If the unit cannot reach set temperature despite continuous running, a sealed system issue may be present and requires a technician.
