Chemical or plastic smell from new or recently installed wine cooler

Safety: Ventilate the room if odors are strong.

Steps to reduce new-appliance odor:

• Initial cleaning: Wipe all internal surfaces and shelves with a mild detergent solution, then with clean water. Dry thoroughly.
• Air out: Leave the door open for several hours or overnight before loading wine.
• Absorb odors: Place an open container of bicarbonate of soda or activated charcoal inside for a few days to absorb residual smells.

Note: These odors typically fade within a few weeks of normal use.
