Possible Causes
Normal scheduled defrost cycle, Extended defrost due to heavy ice buildup, Faulty defrost sensor causing prolonged defrost
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: No immediate repair is required if dF appears briefly and then clears.
Understanding dF:
- Normal operation: Many Caple wine coolers display dF during an automatic defrost cycle. The compressor and sometimes the fan will stop while the defrost heater operates.
- Duration: A normal defrost cycle may last 15–30 minutes. After this, the display should return to showing temperature and cooling should resume.
- When to act: If dF remains on the display for several hours, or the cabinet warms excessively, inspect for heavy ice buildup and check the defrost sensor and defrost heater as described under error E4.
Tip: Avoid frequently opening the door in humid conditions, as this increases frost and may trigger longer defrost cycles.
