Wine cooler shows E3 and temperature display is inaccurate or blank for one zone

Safety: Disconnect mains power before accessing the control area or lower front panel.

Steps to resolve E3:

• Locate ambient sensor: On many Caple wine coolers, the ambient sensor is positioned near the front grille or control panel to measure room temperature. Look for a small probe or sensor head behind the kickplate or near the display.
• Remove kickplate or trim: Carefully remove the lower front grille or control panel trim (usually clipped or screwed). Avoid damaging built-in cabinetry.
• Inspect sensor and wiring: Check for dust buildup, moisture, or physical damage. Ensure the sensor is not dangling or pressed tightly against hot components.
• Check connections: Follow the sensor wires to the main control PCB. Reseat the connector and inspect for corrosion or bent pins.
• Test sensor: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the sensor and measure resistance. Compare to expected NTC values or to another identical sensor if present. Replace if open or shorted.
• Replace sensor: Install a new ambient NTC temperature sensor, routing the cable away from compressor and condenser heat sources.
• Control PCB: If E3 persists with a new sensor and good wiring, the control PCB may be defective and require replacement.

Tip: Ensure the front grille is not blocked; poor airflow can cause abnormal readings and erratic operation even after sensor replacement.
