Possible Causes

Failed evaporator fan motor, Ice obstruction around fan blades, Loose or damaged fan wiring, Faulty fan driver circuit on main control PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the wine cooler before removing internal panels or touching the fan assembly.

Steps to resolve E6:

  • Listen for fan operation: After the unit has been running for several minutes (before unplugging), note whether you can hear the internal circulation fan. A silent cabinet with a running compressor suggests a fan issue.
  • Check for ice buildup: Remove the internal rear panel to access the evaporator and fan. If the fan blades are encased in ice, fully defrost the unit and check the defrost system (sensor and heater).
  • Inspect fan blades and housing: Ensure the blades spin freely by hand and are not rubbing against wiring, insulation, or plastic shrouds.
  • Test fan motor: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the fan motor connector. Measure resistance across the motor terminals; an open circuit indicates a failed motor.
  • Check wiring: Inspect the harness from the fan to the control PCB for pinched or broken wires, especially where it passes through the liner.
  • Replace fan motor: If the motor is open or seized, install a new evaporator fan motor compatible with your Caple model. Refit the shroud and ensure no wires obstruct the blades.
  • Control PCB: If the fan tests good but never receives voltage when the compressor is running, the main control PCB may be defective.

Tip: Proper air circulation is critical for even temperature in wine coolers; do not overpack shelves against the rear wall after repair.
