Possible Causes
Spilled wine or liquids not cleaned, Blocked drain causing standing water, Mold growth on shelves or gasket, Dirty drip tray
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the cooler before deep cleaning. Use non-abrasive, food-safe cleaners.
Deodorizing steps:
- Empty the cabinet: Remove all bottles and shelves. Store wine in a cool, dark place temporarily.
- Clean interior: Wash walls, shelves, and gasket with a solution of mild detergent and warm water, followed by a wipe with a diluted vinegar or bicarbonate of soda solution.
- Clear drain: Ensure the defrost drain is clear and not holding stagnant water (see blocked drain procedure).
- Clean drip tray: Remove and clean the rear drip tray if accessible; mold often grows here.
- Air out: Leave the door open for several hours to dry completely before restocking.
Tip: Avoid using strong perfumed cleaners; residual odors can affect wine corks over time.
