Internal Fan or Shelf Vibration Noise
Wine cooler making loud knocking or rattling noise from inside cabinet
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Loose internal circulation fan, Fan blades hitting wiring or ice, Wooden shelves vibrating against side walls, Bottles touching each other or cabinet
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before removing internal panels or touching the fan.
Steps to reduce internal noise:
- Rearrange bottles: Ensure bottles are not tightly packed against the rear wall or each other. Leave small gaps to prevent resonance.
- Check shelves: Remove and reseat wooden or metal shelves. Add thin felt pads at contact points if necessary to dampen vibration.
- Inspect internal fan: Remove the rear interior panel to access the evaporator fan. Check that the fan shroud is secure and that blades are not contacting wires, insulation, or ice.
- Defrost if iced: If ice is contacting the fan, fully defrost the unit and check the defrost system for underlying issues.
- Tighten fasteners: Tighten any loose screws on the fan bracket or internal panels.
Tip: Run the cooler with shelves empty briefly to isolate whether the noise is from the fan or from bottle/shelf vibration.
