Possible Causes
Defective evaporator NTC sensor, NTC cable damaged by ice or rubbing on evaporator fins, Loose or corroded connector at main PCB, Faulty NTC input on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect the appliance from power before opening any service panels.
- Locate the evaporator NTC: On Climadiff wine coolers, the evaporator sensor is usually clipped directly to the evaporator plate or coil behind the internal rear panel. Remove the interior back panel (often held by screws) to access it.
- Defrost if iced: If the evaporator is heavily iced, allow it to fully defrost (doors open, unit unplugged) to avoid breaking the sensor or fins.
- Visual inspection: Check the sensor body and cable for cracks, cuts, or signs of water ingress. Ensure the clip holds the sensor firmly against the evaporator surface.
- Electrical test: Measure resistance at room temperature and compare to the expected NTC curve. If the reading is infinite, zero, or wildly off, the sensor is defective.
- Replace sensor: Disconnect the old sensor from the PCB, pull the cable through the grommet, and install a new Climadiff-compatible evaporator NTC. Seal any cable pass-throughs with foam or silicone to prevent warm air leaks.
- Reassemble and test: Refit the rear panel, restore power, and verify that the E2 code clears and that the unit cycles normally over several hours.
