Possible Causes
Loose ribbon cable between display panel and main board, Damaged touch control panel, Oxidized connectors at control board, Failed microcontroller on main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before removing the control panel or top cover.
Steps:
- Power cycle: Unplug for 5–10 minutes and plug back in. If E6 returns immediately, proceed with inspection.
- Access the display panel: Remove the top or front trim to expose the display/touch panel. Carefully disconnect the ribbon cable or harness.
- Inspect connectors: Look for bent pins, corrosion, or moisture. Clean gently with electronic contact cleaner and allow to dry fully.
- Reseat cables: Firmly reconnect the ribbon cable at both the display and main control board ends, ensuring it is fully seated and not twisted.
- Check for physical damage: If the glass or plastic touch panel is cracked or unresponsive, replace the display control panel assembly.
- Replace main board if needed: If a known-good panel and cable still result in E6, the main control board may be defective.
