Possible Causes
Internal failure of main control PCB, Corrupted control firmware, Shorted low-voltage wiring, Power surge damage
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the wine cooler before accessing the control housing.
- Power cycle: Disconnect power for 10–15 minutes to allow the control to fully discharge. Plug back in and check if E5 returns.
- Inspect control board: Remove the control panel or rear service cover to access the main PCB. Look for burnt components, bulging capacitors, or signs of moisture intrusion.
- Check all connectors: Ensure every harness is fully seated and oriented correctly. Reseat connectors to clear possible poor contacts.
- Inspect low-voltage wiring: Look for pinched or damaged wires between the display/control panel and the main board.
- Surge protection: If E5 appeared after a storm or outage, consider using a surge protector after repair to prevent recurrence.
- Replace control board: If no wiring issues are found and E5 persists, replace the main control PCB with a Danby-approved part for your model.
