Possible Causes
Shorted cabinet thermistor, Sensor touching evaporator coil directly, Control board misreading sensor, Stuck compressor relay
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before accessing interior panels.
- Inspect sensor placement: Remove the interior rear panel and locate the cabinet thermistor. Ensure it is not taped directly to the coldest part of the evaporator coil; reposition slightly away if necessary.
- Check wiring: Look for crushed or bare wires that could be shorting the sensor leads.
- Measure resistance: Disconnect the sensor and test with a multimeter. A very low resistance (near 0 Ω) indicates a shorted sensor; replace it.
- Control board check: If a new sensor still shows Lo and the unit overcools, the main control PCB may have a faulty input or stuck compressor relay. Replace the board.
