Excessive frost or ice buildup on the back wall or evaporator area

Safety: Unplug the cooler before defrosting or accessing the evaporator. Do not use sharp tools to remove ice.

• Manual defrost: Remove all bottles, unplug the unit, and leave the door open until all ice melts. Use towels to catch water.
• Check door gasket: Inspect for gaps or tears that allow humid air to enter. Replace gasket if necessary.
• Inspect defrost components: On frost-free Danby models, remove the interior rear panel to access the evaporator, defrost heater, and sensor. Test the heater for continuity and replace if open.
• Test defrost sensor: Measure resistance at different temperatures and compare to spec. Replace if faulty.
• Clear drain: Locate the drain hole under the evaporator and clear any blockage with warm water and a small brush or pipe cleaner.
• Reassemble and monitor: After repairs, reassemble and monitor for several days to ensure frost does not return.
