Safety: Unplug the cooler before accessing the rear compartment. Capacitors and mains voltage are present.

• Listen for operation: When plugged in and set to cool, listen for any humming or clicking from the compressor area. Repeated clicking suggests a start device issue.
• Check power and settings: Verify the unit is turned on, not in standby, and the temperature is set below room temperature.
• Inspect start relay: Remove the rear panel, locate the compressor, and carefully remove the start relay/overload assembly. Look for burn marks or melted plastic. Replace with a Danby-compatible start device if damaged.
• Check wiring: Ensure all wires to the compressor and control board are secure and not burned.
• Control board test: If the compressor never receives power, the main control PCB may be faulty and require replacement.
• Compressor failure: If the compressor hums loudly and overheats without starting even with a new relay, the compressor may be locked and will need professional replacement.
