Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the wine cooler and pull it away from the wall before accessing the rear. Condenser coils and compressor can be hot.
On De Dietrich wine coolers with a separate condenser fan, E7 indicates the fan is not operating correctly.
- Access the rear compartment: Remove the rear lower cover to expose the condenser coil, compressor, and fan.
- Clean and inspect: Vacuum dust from the condenser and fan area. Check that the fan blades are not jammed by cable ties, insulation, or debris.
- Spin test: Rotate the fan by hand. It should move freely without grinding. Stiff or seized movement indicates a failing motor.
- Check wiring: Ensure the fan plug is fully seated on the harness and that there is no visible damage to the cable.
- Electrical test: Measure resistance across the fan motor. An open circuit means the motor is defective. If resistance is normal, the issue may be with the control board output.
- Replace as needed: Install a new condenser fan motor compatible with your De Dietrich model if the motor is faulty. If the motor is good but never receives power, replace or repair the main control board.
- Final checks: Reinstall the rear cover, restore power, and verify that the fan runs when the compressor is operating and that the E7 code disappears.
