Possible Causes

Defective ambient NTC sensor, sensor lead damaged near front grille, connector loose at display PCB, failed display/control PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the appliance before removing the front kick plate or control panel.

How to troubleshoot:

  • Locate ambient sensor: On many Dometic wine coolers, the ambient sensor is located near the front grille or behind the control panel where it can sense room temperature.
  • Check mounting and cleanliness: Ensure the sensor is not blocked by dust or insulation and is not touching hot components. Clean any heavy dust buildup.
  • Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor wires to the display or main control PCB. Look for pinched, cut, or abraded insulation, especially where the harness passes through metal openings.
  • Test resistance: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance with a multimeter. Compare to typical NTC values at room temperature. Replace the sensor if readings are open, shorted, or far out of spec.
  • Replace sensor or board: If the sensor is faulty, install a new ambient temperature sensor. If the sensor tests good and wiring is intact, the display/control PCB may be defective and require replacement.
