Possible Causes
Loose or oxidized communication harness connector, damaged ribbon cable between display and main board, failed display PCB, failed main control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before removing the control panel or top trim.
Steps:
- Access control panel: Remove the screws securing the front control panel or top fascia to expose the display PCB and wiring.
- Check connectors: Reseat all plugs between the display PCB and the main control PCB. Look for bent pins, corrosion, or loose locking tabs.
- Inspect cable: Examine the ribbon or harness for kinks, cuts, or signs of being pinched by the cabinet trim. Replace the harness if damaged.
- Power test: After reseating connectors, restore power and see if E6 clears. If it returns, one of the boards may be defective.
- Board substitution: If available, substitute a known-good display PCB. If the error persists, replace the main control PCB.
