Possible Causes
Failed magnetic reed door switch, misaligned door magnet, broken door switch wiring, defective main control PCB door input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before working around the door frame or control wiring.
How to fix:
- Locate door sensor: Dometic wine coolers typically use a magnetic reed switch in the cabinet frame or a mechanical plunger switch near the hinge.
- Check magnet alignment: Ensure the magnet in the door aligns directly with the reed switch when the door is closed. Adjust the door or magnet position if necessary.
- Test switch: Disconnect the switch and test continuity with a multimeter while opening and closing the door (or moving a magnet near the reed). Replace the switch if it does not change state.
- Inspect wiring: Follow the switch wires back to the control board. Repair any breaks or loose connectors.
- Control board: If the switch and wiring are good but E7 persists, the door input circuit on the main control PCB may be faulty and the board will need replacement.
