Possible Causes
Failed evaporator fan motor, fan blade obstructed by ice or wiring, fan harness disconnected, defective main control PCB fan driver
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before removing interior panels or touching fan wiring.
Procedure:
- Access fan: Remove the interior rear panel to expose the evaporator and circulation fan assembly.
- Check for obstructions: Look for ice buildup, loose wires, or shelf clips interfering with the fan blade. Clear any obstructions and ensure the blade spins freely.
- Test fan motor: With the fan disconnected, measure resistance across the motor terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. Also check for signs of overheating or burnt smell.
- Verify voltage (advanced): With caution and the unit powered, a qualified person can measure if the control board is supplying the correct voltage to the fan when it should be running. If no voltage is present and wiring is intact, suspect the control board.
- Replace parts: Install a new evaporator fan motor if faulty. If the motor is good but not powered, replace the main control PCB.
