Possible Causes
Dirty condenser coil, failed condenser fan motor, low refrigerant charge in Dometic sealed system, weak compressor, door gasket leaking warm air
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before cleaning or accessing the rear compartment. Sealed system repairs require a qualified technician.
Steps:
- Check ambient conditions: Ensure the room temperature is within the operating range specified by Dometic. Very hot rooms reduce cooling performance.
- Clean condenser: Remove the rear lower panel and vacuum dust from the condenser coil and surrounding area. Use a soft brush to loosen stubborn dirt.
- Verify condenser fan: Spin the condenser fan by hand; it should move freely. Replace the fan motor if it is seized or does not run when the compressor is on.
- Inspect door gasket: Close the door on a sheet of paper and pull it out around the perimeter. If it slides out easily, the gasket may be leaking and should be replaced.
- Sealed system diagnosis: If the condenser is clean, fan is running, and gasket is good but cooling is still poor, the sealed system (refrigerant charge, capillary tube, or compressor) may be compromised. Contact a refrigeration technician experienced with Dometic systems.
