Possible Causes

Defective ambient NTC sensor, Sensor wiring harness damaged near front grille, Loose connector at control board, Control board input fault

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before removing any kick plates or control panels.

Steps to troubleshoot:

  • 1. Confirm installation conditions: Ensure the wine cooler is not installed in an area outside its rated ambient temperature (typically 60–90°F / 16–32°C). Extreme ambient conditions can confuse the sensor.
  • 2. Locate ambient sensor: On many Electrolux models, the ambient sensor is near the front toe grille or behind the control panel, exposed to room air. Remove the toe grille or control panel screws to access it.
  • 3. Visual inspection: Check for dust buildup, moisture damage, or physical damage to the sensor capsule and wiring. Clean gently with a dry cloth if dusty.
  • 4. Check connections: Reseat the sensor connector at both ends (sensor and control board). Look for corrosion or bent pins.
  • 5. Test resistance: With power off, disconnect the sensor and measure resistance. Compare to expected NTC values at room temperature. Replace if open, shorted, or far out of range.
  • 6. Replace sensor if needed: Remove any mounting clips, install the new sensor in the same location, and route wiring away from hot components and moving parts.

Note: If a new sensor does not clear E3, the main control board may be defective and should be evaluated by a technician.
