Possible Causes
Blocked defrost drain hole, Frozen drain tube, Misaligned drain pan above compressor, Excessive door openings causing condensation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before working inside. Water on the floor can be slippery; wipe up spills promptly.
Steps:
- 1. Locate drain hole: Inside the cabinet, find the small drain hole or channel at the rear bottom area.
- 2. Clear blockage: Use a soft pipe cleaner or plastic zip tie to gently clear debris from the drain hole. Do not use sharp metal objects.
- 3. Flush with warm water: Using a turkey baster or syringe, flush the drain with warm (not boiling) water to melt any ice and clear the tube.
- 4. Check external drain pan: Remove the rear panel and ensure the drain tube empties into the pan above the compressor. Verify the pan is properly seated and not cracked.
Prevention: Minimize long door openings and ensure the door gasket seals well to reduce excess condensation.
