Possible Causes

Defective cabinet NTC probe, Broken or oxidized NTC wiring harness, Loose connector on main control board, NTC out of calibration due to moisture ingress

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the EuroCave wine cooler from the mains before removing any panels. Do not work on live circuits.

This code typically indicates a problem with the main cabinet temperature sensor (NTC) that measures the internal temperature.

  • Step 1 – Power reset: Unplug the unit for 5–10 minutes, then plug it back in. If E1 clears and does not return, it may have been a transient fault.
  • Step 2 – Locate the cabinet NTC: Open the cabinet and look for a small plastic probe or sensor housing on the rear or side wall (often behind a small cover or grille). On some EuroCave models, the NTC is accessed from inside the cabinet; on others, from the rear.
  • Step 3 – Inspect the sensor and wiring: Check for visible damage to the probe, pinched or cut wires, or corrosion at the connector. Reseat the connector at both the sensor end and the main control board (behind the top or rear panel).
  • Step 4 – Test the NTC (for advanced users): With the unit unplugged, disconnect the NTC and measure its resistance with a multimeter. Compare the reading to the EuroCave service chart (typically around 5–15 kΩ at room temperature). If the reading is open, shorted, or far out of range, the sensor is faulty.
  • Step 5 – Replace the NTC: If defective, remove the old probe (note routing of the cable), install the new EuroCave-compatible cabinet NTC sensor, and route the cable exactly as original to avoid pinching or condensation issues.
  • Step 6 – Reassemble and test: Refit all covers, restore power, and monitor the display. The E1 code should clear automatically after a few minutes if the sensor is read correctly.

When to call a technician: If the NTC tests good but E1 persists, the fault may be on the main control board and should be diagnosed by a qualified technician.
