Possible Causes
Defective magnetic reed switch or mechanical door switch, Misaligned door magnet, Broken or loose switch wiring, Faulty door input circuit on main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the appliance before removing door trims or accessing wiring.
Steps:
- Check door alignment: Ensure the door closes squarely and the gasket contacts the cabinet all around. Adjust hinges if the door is sagging.
- Locate the door switch: On many Fagor wine coolers, the door sensor is a magnetic reed switch hidden in the cabinet frame, with a magnet in the door. Others use a mechanical plunger switch.
- Test magnet alignment: Slowly close the door and listen for the interior light turning off. If the light stays on, the switch is not being activated.
- Inspect and test switch: Access the switch from inside the cabinet frame or behind the front trim. With the unit unplugged, disconnect the switch and test continuity with a magnet (for reed) or by pressing the plunger (for mechanical). Replace if it does not change state.
- Check wiring: Trace the switch wires to the main PCB and look for breaks or loose connectors.
- Replace faulty parts: Install a new Fagor door switch or door magnet as needed. Ensure the magnet is positioned directly opposite the reed switch.
- Control board: If the switch and wiring are good but the unit still thinks the door is open, the main PCB input may be defective and require replacement.
