Basic checks:

• Verify power supply: Plug the cooler directly into a dedicated wall outlet (no extension cords). Use a multimeter to confirm voltage is within 220–240V (or 110–120V depending on region and model).
• Ventilation: Ensure there is adequate clearance around the cooler (especially rear and sides) and that the condenser is not clogged with dust, which can overheat the compressor.
• Access compressor components: Remove the rear lower metal cover to expose the compressor, start relay, and overload protector.
• Inspect PTC relay and overload: Look for burn marks, melted plastic, or a burnt smell. Gently remove the relay/overload assembly from the compressor terminals.
• Test the relay: Shake the PTC relay; if it rattles or pieces fall out, replace it. Measure resistance across its terminals; an open circuit indicates failure.
• Compressor test (advanced): With the unit unplugged, measure resistance between the compressor terminals (C, S, R). Values should be finite and consistent with the compressor label. A short to ground or open winding indicates a bad compressor.
• Replace faulty parts: Install a new Fagor-compatible PTC start relay and overload protector if defective. Reassemble and test.

When to call a professional: If the compressor windings are shorted or the compressor is seized, replacement requires a licensed refrigeration technician with proper tools and refrigerant handling certification.
