Possible Causes

Failed evaporator fan motor, Ice obstruction around fan blades, Loose or damaged fan wiring harness, Faulty fan driver circuit on main control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before opening the cabinet. Moving fan blades can cause injury.

Steps:

  • Listen for fan operation: With the door closed and unit powered (before unplugging), listen for the evaporator fan running. If silent while compressor is on, suspect a fan issue.
  • Access the fan: Unplug the unit. Remove interior shelves and the rear inner panel to expose the evaporator and fan assembly.
  • Check for ice or obstruction: Inspect the fan blades for ice buildup, labels, or wiring obstructing rotation. Manually spin the blades; they should turn freely.
  • Defrost if iced: If ice is present, fully defrost the unit and check defrost system (sensor/heater) as a secondary issue.
  • Test fan motor: Disconnect the fan connector. Measure resistance across the motor leads; an open circuit indicates a failed motor. If you have access to the wiring diagram, verify correct voltage is supplied to the fan when the compressor is running.
  • Inspect wiring: Check for pinched or broken wires between the fan and main PCB.
  • Replace the fan motor: Install a new Fagor evaporator fan motor assembly if defective. Ensure the fan is mounted in the correct orientation and that wires are secured away from blades.
  • Control board: If the fan motor and wiring are good but no voltage is supplied, the main control board fan driver may be faulty and require replacement.
