Possible Causes

Prolonged door open, Failed condenser fan motor, Dirty condenser coil causing overheating, Refrigerant leak or low charge, Faulty temperature sensor misreading high temperature

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Always unplug the unit before cleaning coils or accessing fans.

Immediate actions:

  • Check door seal and usage: Ensure the door is fully closing and not being left open. Inspect the gasket for gaps or damage.
  • Allow recovery time: If the door was recently open for loading, close it and allow 12–24 hours for temperature to stabilize. E9 may clear automatically.
  • Clean condenser coil: Pull the unit away from the wall. Remove the rear lower panel to access the condenser. Use a soft brush and vacuum to remove dust and lint from the coil and surrounding area.
  • Check condenser fan: With the panel off, briefly power the unit and observe the condenser fan (near the compressor). It should run whenever the compressor runs. If not spinning or noisy, unplug and replace the fan motor.
  • Verify ambient conditions: Ensure the cooler is not installed in a very hot location (e.g., next to an oven or in direct sunlight) beyond Fagor's specified ambient range.
  • Sensor check: If the interior feels cold but E9 persists, test the cabinet temperature sensor as described for E1. Replace if misreading.
  • Refrigerant issue: If the compressor and fans run but the unit does not cool and E9 remains, a sealed system problem (leak, restriction, or weak compressor) is likely. This requires a licensed refrigeration technician.
