Possible Causes
Internal relay failure on PCB, Burnt trace or component due to surge, Corrupted firmware, Overheated control board from poor ventilation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the appliance and wait several minutes before touching the control board. Capacitors may retain charge.
Steps:
- Power reset: Unplug the unit for 10 minutes, then plug back in. If F3 returns immediately, proceed.
- Inspect control board: Access the main PCB (usually behind the rear metal panel or behind the top control area). Look for burnt components, bulging capacitors, or darkened areas.
- Check connectors: Ensure all harnesses are firmly seated and not reversed. Look for signs of overheating at the compressor relay terminals.
- Test outputs (advanced): With the unit powered and extreme caution, a technician can test for compressor and fan output voltages. Lack of output with correct inputs indicates a bad board.
- Replace main PCB: Order the exact Fagor main control board for your model. Transfer any jumper settings as per the service manual. Install and reconnect all harnesses carefully.
Note: If F3 occurred after a lightning storm or power surge, consider using a surge protector in the future.
