Possible Causes
Failed magnetic reed switch, misaligned door magnet, broken door switch wiring, faulty input on main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before removing door trims or switch housings.
Steps to address E5:
- Locate door sensor: On many Fisher & Paykel wine coolers, the door switch is a magnetic reed sensor in the cabinet frame and a magnet in the door.
- Check alignment: Verify that the door closes fully and that the magnet aligns with the sensor area. Adjust door hinges if the door is sagging.
- Inspect sensor and wiring: Remove the inner trim or small cover over the sensor and check for loose connections or damaged wires.
- Test sensor: With power off, disconnect the sensor and test continuity while placing a magnet near it. The switch should open and close reliably. Replace the sensor if it fails this test.
- Verify at PCB: Ensure the door switch harness is firmly connected to the main control board.
- Replace components as needed: Install a new door switch or magnet if defective. If E5 persists, the main PCB input circuit may be faulty.
