Possible Causes

Loose ribbon cable between UI and main board, oxidized connectors, failed touch control panel, failed main control board communication circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before removing the control panel or top trim.

How to address E6:

  • Power reset: Unplug the unit for 10 minutes to clear transient faults. If E6 returns, continue.
  • Access the control panel: Remove screws or clips securing the front control panel or door trim (depending on model). Carefully pull the panel forward.
  • Inspect ribbon cable and connectors: Ensure the flat ribbon cable between the user interface and main control board is fully seated and not kinked or damaged. Disconnect and reconnect to clean contacts.
  • Check for moisture: Look for signs of condensation or liquid intrusion on the control board. Dry gently with a soft cloth; do not use heat guns.
  • Test panel response: After reseating cables, restore power and test all buttons. If some or all buttons remain unresponsive and E6 persists, the UI board is likely faulty.
  • Replace the user interface: Order a Frigidaire control panel assembly for your model. Transfer any decorative trim, connect the ribbon cable, and reinstall the panel.

Note: If a new UI does not resolve E6, the main control board may have a communication fault and should be replaced by a technician.
