Wine cooler displays E8 and the fan may not run or runs at incorrect speed.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before accessing the interior rear panel or fan area.
Steps to resolve E8:
- Listen for fan operation: After the compressor starts (with the unit plugged in), you should hear the evaporator fan running. If silent, proceed with checks.
- Access the fan: Remove the interior rear panel to expose the evaporator fan assembly.
- Inspect for obstructions: Check if bottles, packaging, or ice buildup are blocking the fan blade. Clear any obstructions and melt ice with a warm (not hot) cloth.
- Spin the blade by hand: With power disconnected, gently spin the fan blade. It should move freely. If stiff or seized, the motor is likely bad.
- Test fan voltage: With the unit plugged in and calling for cooling, carefully measure voltage at the fan connector (use insulated probes). You should see approximately 12–24 VDC or 120 VAC depending on design. If voltage is present but the fan does not run, replace the fan motor.
- Replace the fan motor: Install a Frigidaire evaporator fan motor assembly, transferring the blade if required. Reconnect wiring and secure the fan bracket.
Note: If no voltage is present at the fan when it should be running, the main control board or wiring harness may be faulty and should be checked by a technician.
