Possible Causes

Thermistor reading too low, control board stuck in continuous cooling, relay on control board welded closed

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the wine cooler before accessing the control board or sensors.

Steps to address L1:

  • Verify set temperature: Confirm that the setpoint is not accidentally set too low. Adjust to the recommended wine storage temperature (typically 45–65°F depending on zone).
  • Power reset: Unplug the unit for 10 minutes to reset the control. If L1 returns and the unit continues to overcool, proceed.
  • Check thermistor placement: Ensure the cabinet temperature sensor is not touching the evaporator coil or an air outlet, which can cause falsely low readings.
  • Test thermistor: Measure resistance at known temperatures and compare to specifications. Replace if readings are out of range.
  • Inspect control board relays: If comfortable, visually inspect the main board for a stuck or burnt compressor relay. A relay welded closed will keep the compressor running constantly.
  • Replace faulty parts: Install a new thermistor or main control board as indicated by testing.

Note: Overcooling can damage wine. Until repaired, unplug the unit or raise the setpoint and monitor with a separate thermometer.
