Possible Causes
Ice buildup around evaporator fan, misaligned fan shroud, foreign object contacting fan blade
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before removing interior panels.
Steps:
- Remove rear interior panel: Access the evaporator fan area by removing screws holding the inner rear wall.
- Inspect for ice: Look for ice buildup around the fan and evaporator. If present, allow the unit to defrost fully (doors open, towels to catch water).
- Check fan blade: Ensure the blade is firmly attached to the motor shaft and not rubbing against the shroud or wiring.
- Clear obstructions: Remove any debris or misrouted wires contacting the blade.
- Reassemble and test: After defrosting and clearing, reassemble the panel and restore power. Noise should be eliminated.
Note: Recurrent ice buildup may indicate a defrost or door seal problem that should be further investigated.
