Possible Causes
New plastic components off-gassing, Residual manufacturing oils, Strong cleaners used inside cabinet, New door gasket odor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Ensure good room ventilation while airing out the appliance.
Steps:
- 1. Air out the cabinet: Run the cooler empty for several days with normal operation, occasionally opening the door to exchange air.
- 2. Wipe interior: Clean interior surfaces with a mild baking soda solution and then wipe dry.
- 3. Avoid harsh chemicals: Do not use solvents, bleach, or strong fragrances inside the cabinet.
- 4. Replace if persistent: If a strong chemical smell persists for weeks and seems to come from a specific component (e.g., gasket), consult Gaggenau service for possible replacement.
Note: Do not store wine until strong odors have dissipated, as corks can absorb smells.
