Possible Causes

Damaged touch sensor panel, Moisture intrusion behind glass control, Loose keypad ribbon cable, Faulty user interface PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before removing the control panel or glass touch surface.

Steps:

  • 1. Clean control surface: Wipe the touch panel with a soft, dry cloth. Residue or moisture can interfere with capacitive touch sensors.
  • 2. Power cycle: Turn power off for 5 minutes, then restore. Sometimes the touch controller resets and resumes normal operation.
  • 3. Remove control panel: If E16 persists, carefully remove the control panel assembly. Avoid flexing the glass.
  • 4. Inspect ribbon cable: Check the flat cable between the touch panel and the interface board. Reseat both ends and ensure there are no cracks or kinks.
  • 5. Check for moisture: Look for condensation or spills behind the panel. Dry thoroughly before reassembly.
  • 6. Replace touch panel or interface board: If physical damage is visible or if reseating does not help, replace the affected component with the correct Gaggenau part.
  • 7. Test: Reassemble, restore power, and verify that all buttons respond and E16 is cleared.

Tip: Avoid spraying cleaners directly on the control panel; spray onto a cloth instead.
