Possible Causes

Failed NTC sensor in upper zone, Failed NTC sensor in lower zone, Broken sensor harness, Faulty sensor input on control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before removing interior panels or accessing sensors.

Steps:

  • 1. Determine affected zone: Note whether the upper or lower zone temperature is missing or incorrect.
  • 2. Locate zone sensor: Each zone typically has its own NTC sensor behind the side or rear liner. Remove shelves and the appropriate panel to access it.
  • 3. Inspect sensor and wiring: Check for physical damage, loose mounting, or broken wires.
  • 4. Test sensor resistance: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance at known temperature. Compare to Gaggenau’s NTC chart. Replace if out of range.
  • 5. Check harness to control board: Verify continuity from the sensor connector to the control board. Repair any open circuits.
  • 6. Replace control board if necessary: If sensors and wiring are good but the board does not read them, replace the main control module.
  • 7. Reassemble and test: Restore power and confirm that both zone temperatures display correctly and E19 is cleared.

Note: Accurate zone sensing is critical for proper wine storage; do not operate long-term with a known sensor fault.
