Possible Causes

Misaligned door, failed magnetic reed switch, loose door switch wiring, weak or damaged door gasket

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Most checks are external; unplug only if accessing wiring.

  • Check door alignment: Ensure the door is level and square with the cabinet. Adjust hinges if the door sags or rubs.
  • Inspect gasket: Look for tears, gaps, or hardened sections of the door gasket. Clean with warm soapy water and dry. Replace if damaged.
  • Test door switch: Locate the door switch or magnetic sensor (often near the top or side of the opening). With the unit unplugged, remove the trim and check that the switch is secure and wiring is intact.
  • Electrical test: Use a multimeter to test continuity of the door switch when the door is opened and closed (or when a magnet is placed near a reed switch). Replace the door switch if it does not change state.

After repair, confirm that the alarm stops when the door is closed and that the dE indication clears.
