Possible Causes
Failed evaporator fan motor, obstructed fan blade, loose fan wiring connector, defective control board fan driver
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before working inside the cabinet.
- Access fan: Remove interior shelves and the rear panel to expose the evaporator fan assembly.
- Check for obstructions: Look for ice buildup, wiring, or packaging material blocking the fan blade. Clear any obstructions and ensure the blade spins freely by hand.
- Inspect wiring: Verify the fan motor connector is fully seated and wires are not damaged.
- Test fan motor: With the fan disconnected and the unit unplugged, measure motor winding resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. Replace the evaporator fan motor if defective.
- Control board: If the fan motor is good but does not receive voltage when the compressor is running, the control board may be faulty and require replacement.
After repair, restore power and confirm the fan runs whenever the compressor is on and that the E6 code clears.
