Possible Causes

Defective magnetic reed door switch, Misaligned door magnet, Broken door switch wiring, Faulty input on main control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect the wine cooler from power before removing trims or panels.

  • Identify door sensor type: Many Grundig wine coolers use a magnetic reed switch hidden in the cabinet frame and a magnet in the door.
  • Check door alignment: Ensure the door closes squarely and the gasket seals evenly. A sagging door may move the magnet out of range of the reed switch.
  • Test reed switch: Locate the switch (often behind the top frame trim). With a multimeter on continuity, place a magnet near the switch. The reading should change from open to closed. If not, the switch is faulty.
  • Inspect wiring: Follow the switch wires to the control board and verify the connector is secure.
  • Replace faulty parts: Install a new Grundig door reed switch or door magnet as needed. Refit trims carefully to avoid pinching wires.
  • Control board check: If the switch tests good but E6 persists, the main PCB input circuit may be defective and require replacement.
