Possible Causes

Failed compressor windings, Locked rotor, Defective start relay or capacitor, Main control PCB compressor relay failure

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Unplug the unit before accessing the compressor compartment. CF indicates the control has detected an abnormal compressor current condition.

  • Listen for start attempts: When powered, the compressor may click on and off repeatedly. This often points to a start relay or overload issue.
  • Inspect start components: Remove the plastic cover on the compressor terminals. Check the PTC relay and overload protector for burn marks or rattling pieces inside.
  • Replace start kit: Install a new Hisense-compatible compressor start relay and overload protector. Ensure they are firmly seated on the compressor pins.
  • Check capacitor (if used): Some models use a run capacitor. Test it with a capacitance meter and replace if out of specification.
  • Test compressor windings (advanced): A technician can measure resistance between compressor terminals to confirm if the motor is open or shorted.

If new start components do not resolve CF, the compressor or main control PCB may be defective. Sealed-system repairs must be done by a licensed technician.
