Possible Causes

Failed evaporator NTC sensor, Sensor dislodged from evaporator coil, Corroded or loose sensor connector, Faulty main control PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Unplug the cooler before service. This error typically refers to the evaporator sensor that monitors coil temperature to control defrost and compressor run time.

  • Access the evaporator area: Remove interior shelves and the rear inner panel/evaporator cover. This panel is usually held by screws and may have a fan attached.
  • Locate the evaporator sensor: On Hisense wine coolers, the evaporator NTC is often clipped directly to the evaporator tubing or embedded in a small plastic holder on the coil.
  • Check mounting and condition: Ensure the sensor is firmly attached to the coil and not hanging loose. Look for cracked insulation or corrosion at the sensor head.
  • Test resistance: Disconnect the sensor from its harness and measure resistance at room temperature. Compare to the cabinet sensor if present; they should be similar. An open or shorted reading indicates a bad sensor.
  • Repair or replace: If the sensor is loose, re-clip it to the evaporator and secure with aluminum tape or the original clip. If defective, install a new Hisense-compatible evaporator NTC sensor and route the wires away from sharp metal edges and the fan blades.
  • Inspect wiring to PCB: Trace the harness to the rear control board. Reseat the connector on the main PCB and check for pin corrosion or burnt spots.

If E1 persists after sensor replacement, the main control PCB may be faulty and should be replaced by a professional.
