Display shows E2 and the unit may run continuously or shut down prematurely.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Disconnect power before opening any covers. E2 often indicates a problem with the ambient (room) temperature sensor used by some Hisense wine coolers to adjust performance.
- Locate the ambient sensor: It is usually positioned near the front grille, side wall, or rear of the cabinet where it can sense room air, and connects to the main PCB at the back.
- Visual inspection: Check for damage from cleaning, rodent activity, or pinched wires where the harness passes through metal panels.
- Check connections: At the rear, remove the lower service panel to access the main control PCB. Find the ambient sensor connector (refer to wiring diagram if available) and ensure it is fully seated.
- Test the sensor: With the sensor unplugged, measure resistance at room temperature. Compare to the cabinet sensor value; they should be in a similar range. Replace the sensor if it reads open or shorted.
- Replace sensor if needed: Install a new Hisense ambient NTC sensor, secure it in the original location, and avoid placing it directly against hot components like the compressor or condenser.
If the sensor tests good but E2 remains, the main control PCB may have a defective sensor input and should be evaluated or replaced by a technician.
