Possible Causes
Clogged defrost drain hole, Frozen drain tube, Misaligned drain pan above compressor, Excessive door openings causing condensation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Unplug the cooler before working inside.
- Locate the drain: Inside the cabinet, at the bottom of the evaporator area, there is usually a small drain hole.
- Clear blockage: Use a soft pipe cleaner or plastic probe to gently clear debris from the drain hole. Do not use sharp metal objects.
- Flush with warm water: Use a turkey baster or syringe to flush warm (not boiling) water through the drain to melt any ice and push debris into the rear drain pan.
- Check rear drain pan: At the back, ensure the drain tube empties into the pan above the compressor and that the pan is properly seated.
- Reduce humidity load: Avoid leaving the door open for long periods and ensure the gasket seals well to minimize condensation.
Persistent leaks after clearing the drain may indicate a cracked drain tube or liner, which should be inspected by a technician.
