Possible Causes
Aging thermistor with shifted resistance, Poor sensor contact with evaporator, Control board calibration error
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Unplug the cooler before accessing the sensor.
- Verify with a thermometer: Place a reliable thermometer inside the cooler and allow it to stabilize for several hours. Compare its reading to the display.
- Check sensor mounting: Access the interior panel and ensure the thermistor is firmly attached to its mounting point (evaporator or wall). A loose sensor can read inaccurately.
- Replace thermistor: If the display is consistently off by more than a few degrees, replace the cabinet temperature sensor (NTC thermistor) with a new hOmeLabs part.
- Control board replacement: If a new sensor does not correct the discrepancy, the main control board's calibration may be off. Replace the main control board if precise temperature control is critical.
