Possible Causes
Temperature set too low, Faulty thermistor reading too low, Stuck relay keeping compressor on, Control board logic fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Unplug the unit before removing any panels.
- Check set temperature: Verify the setpoint on the control panel. For wine, typical settings are 40–65°F (5–18°C). Increase the set temperature if it is too low.
- Observe compressor cycling: Listen to see if the compressor ever shuts off. If it runs constantly even when the interior is very cold, there may be a control or sensor issue.
- Sensor test: Compare the displayed temperature with an accurate thermometer placed inside the cooler. If the display is much higher than actual, the sensor may be reading incorrectly. Follow E1/E2/E3 steps to test and replace the thermistor.
- Control board check: If the sensor is good but the compressor never cycles off, the main control board's compressor relay may be stuck closed. In this case, replace the hOmeLabs main control board.
- Protect your wine: Until the issue is resolved, move valuable bottles to another properly controlled storage to avoid freezing.
